Relaxation Techniques – Best Back Pain Treatment

The incidence of back pain also increases with age. It may be quite surprising to note that back pain is sometimes caused due to problem with kidneys.

When should you consult a doctor? An aching back may be due to kidney infection and this requires immediate medical attention. Recurring back pain may sometimes be caused due to inadequate muscle strength, shortened muscles, poor posture, high levels of acidic wastes released as by products during muscular activity, due to overweight, improper bending and lifting techniques. However, most of these factors can be controlled and give you back pain relief.

With advancement in medical field, several back pain treatment methods have been developed. Several recommendations and instant actions drugs are designed to give you back pain relief. However, stretching and other activities that can strain your back need to be discouraged. Few techniques that can provide you relief are mentioned below:

• While sleeping on one side, try keeping a pillow between your legs. This can give you comfort.

• Some doctors recommend lying on the back with pillow under the knees.

• Non-prescription medications are able to give back pain relief.

• Ibuprofen, a drug available across the counter is best back pain treatment. Improper usage for long period may result in ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding. Hence consult your physician before use.

• Acetaminophen has also been effective in relieving bac

• Use of ice or heat can also benefit by reducing back pain. However, its benefit has not been proved scientifically.

Most experts are of the opinion that prolonged bed rest is associated with longer recovery period. Moreover, people on bed rest are likely to develop depression and blood clots in their leg and thus reduce muscle tone. This is the main reason why very few doctors recommend more than 48 hour period of decreased activity or bed rest.

Stress, anxiety and depression are the prime causes of back pain. Stress results in muscle contraction and reduces blood flow to tissues thereby induces pain. So, try to get relieved from these either by exercising or learning relaxation techniques.
